Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, the 56-acre facility houses the Florida Oceanographic Society's headquarters, library, nature trails, Children's Activity Pavilion, Rays on the Reef Ray Pavilion and the Frances Langford Visitor's Center. Situated among coastal hardwood hammocks and mangrove forests, the center provides excellent opportunities for education and research.
Daily activities include game fish feeding, a stingray program and a guided nature walk. Throughout the year, special events are held including a Catch and Photo Fishing Tournament, promoting recreational fishing where all catches are released. Another popular event is the Sea Turtle Program with Sunrise Beach Walk. Participants learn about nesting sea turtles during a night time presentation, then meet again at sunrise to observe the nesting from the night before--just like turtle biologist do!
